Wilderness Time
Wilderness time can be soothing, a welcome balm, a time for breathing deeply and walking slowly with clear awareness.
When I look at the way kudzu overtakes abandoned buildings or the way roots skirt around obstacles to find water, I have a sense of hope that some things live on no matter what kind of hardship they face.
There are challenges here. It is easy to become lost. There may be briars, tangles to trip you up, or your imagination may unfurl in unsettling ways.
It is a liminal place where anything can happen; a place of waiting, waiting for the next moment of grandeur or for freedom or healing, or simply waiting until you find your way.
The wilderness teaches a unique kind of understanding. If you are lucky, you find endurance, creativity, and wisdom you didn’t know you had. It is a time of connection with Spirit, with beauty, awe, vulnerability, and fierceness.
