Nature & Landscape Documentary Photographs I love making photographs outside, under a wide-open sky, in a forest, or by the water. I will wait for hours in the darkest spot we can find, in freezing temperatures, for the magic of the Aurora Borealis. I also enjoy the challenge when I have only seconds to make a photograph before an animal moves or the light shifts. This work is healing to me. I breathe it in, the beauty, the breeze, the scent, the sounds—all of it. I am entranced by the individuality of animals and birds, by their character, by the way they move or seem to pose. As the work mends me, I hope that I give back toward the healing of the earth through my photographs.
